Les chants de mon pays

Québec

Les chants de mon pays/ Québec Palais Montcalm

Born in Haiti, Marie-Josée Lord arrived in her new country, Quebec, at the age of 6. From the very beginning, she was quickly immersed in a new musical culture, inherited from her adoptive parents, who introduced her to the world of the great songwriters. At a very young age, the texts of these great Quebec poets will be for her a place of escape, carried by the imagination of words.

Gilles Vigneault, Félix Leclerc, Robert Charlebois, Claude Dubois, Diane Juster, Monique Leyrac, Luc Plamondon, Gaston Miron, to name but a few, have cradled my poetic and sound universe. Their poetry and their stories made me love words and, supported by music, these words became for me travels, escape and parallel universe. With this show: Les chants de mon pays, I want to pay tribute to its pillars and national treasures. Because thanks to them, Quebec has been able to make its existence known beyond its borders. Their words and their music are today a heritage for the future generations.

The story of Carmen opera and his creator, Georges Bizet

A musical spectacle of Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt !

Not at all… I will evocate an even stranger catastrophe, a genius teenager who was asphyxiated – by him and society – throughout all his adult life but that retrieved his flame at the age of 36 years, just before he died, before he died from ir… It’s about Georges Bizet. Without doubt one of the most mysterious destinies of all music history”. Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt

Le Mystère Carmen

Montréal

A musical spectacle of Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt

Staging, Lorraine Pintal

From february 26 tu mars 16 2019

A Théâtre du Nouveau Monde and Didier Morissonneau production.

Quatuor mayor mode for soprano and author.

In 2015, Eric-Emmanuel Schmith is touched by Loranie Pintal’s staging and scenic adaptation of Anne Frank’s diary. It was natural that the TNM director dive again into the creative universe of this author and his abounding imagination. What is more, the last year, when he came to present alone his Monsieur Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran with a simplicity as admirable as touching, a true love story crystallized with the audience! Indeed, the entire Quebec is under the charm of the philosopher, novelist, filmmaker and theater man, of this humanist thinker who likes so much to tell stories kneaded with sparkliness and intelligence.

Passionate of music and opera, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt share the scène with the enchanting soprano Marie-Josée Lord, both of them guided by Laurraine Pintal, to carry us to the meeting of a precocious and sublime genius, Georges Bizet, who finally found his way at the age of 36 years with the creation of Carmen: yet, an infarct stroke him after the first act. Together, they retrace the upheaval path of this musical Genius that disappears too early to realize he had revolutionized opera and, furthermore, to realize he had created a new feminine myth.
